The service

Focus Stacks provides a browser-based focus-stacking tool and a depth-of-field calculator. Both run on your device. You may use them for any lawful purpose, personal or commercial, without an account. An optional Google sign-in keeps lens kits, plans, stack settings and preferences for you; you can delete the account, and everything it keeps, from the account page at any time.

The Pro beta

Pressing a Pro price during the beta records which feature and which price you chose, so we can decide what to build. Nothing is charged and no payment detail is asked for. If paid plans open, nothing will be charged without asking you first, and the free stacker stays free at full resolution.

Your content

You keep every right in the frames you stack and in the result. The publisher never receives the frames and claims nothing over them.

Share links

If you share a result, you let the publisher store it and show it to whoever opens the link, until you delete the link or the account, and you confirm that you may: the picture is yours or you have the right to publish it, it is lawful, and nobody recognisable is shown in it without their agreement. The publisher may remove a shared picture that breaks these terms or the law without notice, and may close an account that shares such pictures. A free account holds up to 20 links and 100 MB; more will be part of a paid plan.

Offering a share for the monthly showcase, with the box ticked, also lets the publisher copy that picture onto the showcase page, with the details you gave, for as long as the page exists; withdrawing it takes it off within a month. Entries are chosen by the publisher, and offering one is no promise that it appears.

No warranty

The tools are provided as they are. A merged image can contain artefacts — ghosts, halos, a soft band — and the result panel exists so that you inspect it before relying on it. The publisher is not liable for a photograph that did not come out, a print made from a flawed stack, or any loss arising from use of the site, to the extent the law allows such a limitation.

Acceptable use

Do not attempt to interfere with the site, to use it to distribute malware or unlawful pictures, or to scrape it beyond what its robots.txt and AI/TDM policy allow.

Changes

The tools and these terms may change; the date at the foot of this page records the last revision. Continued use after a change is acceptance of it.

Law

These terms are governed by the law of the publisher's place of establishment, without prejudice to mandatory consumer protections where you live.
